A Week in the Life

We got back from Lake Livingston on Sunday afternoon.  We love vacation time, but it was so nice to be back home.  Monday morning we got up early for Andy's dentist appointment at 9:00.  He liked the new dentist which is good since this office actually accepts our insurance and the new insurance we're changing to.  Unfortunately, Andy ended up having two cavities as opposed to one, but two isn't bad considering it's been close to 10 years since we've both been to the dentist.  Dr. Arnold asked Andy if he was going to come back to have his teeth cleaned because apparently they're looking a little rough.  I was thinking "uh, duh we're going to get them cleaned and back off it's been ten years since he's had them cleaned."
Tuesday we hung out around the house, and Andy cleaned the camper awning while I thoroughly vaccuumed the inside of the camper (it's the price you pay for a dog who sheds).  Wednesday we went to Humble to do a little shopping and get some errands done.  For dinner, we went to Texas Roadhouse (my absolute favorite restaurant!!) with our dear friends Brandon and Joy.  We hadn't seen them in probably a month which is way too long for us to be apart.  We loved catching up with them!  They brought me my birthday presents - gift card to Marble Slab and an iPad cover from Vera Bradley!  That's when I realized I have quite a collection of Vera Bradley items.  To add even more to my collection, when we got home I purchased a new purse from Vera Bradley.  I still had a $50 gift card from my co-workers, and I got a $20 off coupon for my birthday month.  So, I got a $78 purse for about $12.  Super excited about that!  Here's my collection...

Back (L to R):  Medium cosmetic (Deco Daisy), Large cosmetic (Buttercup),
Small cosmetic (Rosy Posies), The Weekender travel bag (Buttercup).
Middle (L to R):  eReader sleeve (Viva la Vera), iPad/Tablet sleeve (Lime's Up),
manicure set (Night and Day), Turn Lock wallet (Very Berry Paisley), checkbook cover,
The Hipster crossbody purse (Night and Day).
Front (L to R):  Lanyard, contact case (Lemon Parfait).
My new purse!
The Mailbag in Baroque
Lonestar had to check out the inside of the bag!
Thursday Andy had Concussion Training for coaching in the morning, and then he left for a guys fishing trip in Galveston.  Joy and I decided to have some girl time and went to the mall for a little shopping.  Gee, I love that girl!  We always have such great conversations.  We stayed at the mall until it closed, and then chit-chatted at her hosue until 1:30 in the morning.  Yep, we're crazy!  My poor Maddie Mae was very excited to see me when I got home.  She's definitely not a fan of being in her kennel for that long.
We don't have any major plans for the weekend.  Next week Andy's summer pretty much ends.  He has drug testing for the athletes on Monday and Tuesday, coaches meetings throughout the week, and official cross country practice starts for the new season.  I will begin working on school stuff next week as well.  So sad for the summer to be over already; it went by way too quickly.  Joy told me that the Titanic exhibit is at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, so I will hopefully convince Andy to take me to it at some point before school starts (I'm hoping for next week!).

  1. You're so lucky to get birthday gifts from so many people! ;-)

And my summer is pretty much over too. I have a bunch of pre-work to do for my MBA program (which starts Aug. 12), and I'm doing a math boot camp.

Speaking of math... UGH! I haven't done algebra since 1998, and I'm feeling really dumb when it comes to quadratic formulas and graphing quadratic functions. Any advice or tips??

    1. If you ever have a question about your math homework or some concept during your bootcamp, don't hesitate to ask me. I do not mind at all!! :)

I haven't actually used any of these videos, but I plan to this upcoming year. I have heard awesome reviews about them, and some school districts even use them for remediation classes and such. The place is called Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org) and it has TONS of math videos in subjects ranging from basic Algebra to Calculus and Statistics.

Here is the link for all of the videos available about Quadratics: http://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra/#quadtratics
